Dr. Rumi Ahmed Khan is a prominent leader within the Bangladeshi diaspora,
actively involved in the socio-political discourse surrounding Bangladesh’s
recent political developments. A vocal dissident and human rights activist, Dr.
Khan has been at the forefront of the overseas resistance against the autocratic
rule in Bangladesh. He is a pioneering blogger, columnist for major Bangladeshi
and international outlets, and co-founder of influential platforms like the
“Drishtipat” Human Rights Organization and the “Unheard Voices” blog, which
are critical in shaping the narrative on Bangladesh’s socio-political issues. Dr.
Khan also co-hosts the “Nuraldeen” podcast, the only English-language podcast
focused on Bangladesh affairs.
In addition to his activism, Dr. Khan is an accomplished academic and physician. His clinical specialization spans five subspecialties and he is American board certification in those subspecialties.
Currently, he serves as a Professor at Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin, where he also leads the Bangladesh Studies program at the South Asia Institute, blending his medical expertise with his commitment to social justice.
