Saimum Parvez (PhD) is a Lecturer at the DW Academy in Bonn, Germany. He is also Editor in Chief of the Bangla Outlook and the Executive Editor of the Road to Democracy. Dr Parvez was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB), Belgium (2022-2024). During his fellowship in Brussels, He was a member of two Brussels-based research centers- RHEA and BIRMM. He was a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Sociology, North South University, Bangladesh from 2015 to 2017. He received his Ph.D. (2021) from the University of Sydney and MA (2015) from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University under the Fulbright scholarship program. His recent journal articles were published in Small Wars & Insurgencies (2022), Democratization (2021), Perspectives on Terrorism (2019), and Terrorism and Political Violence (2018). He recently co-edited a volume titled The Politics of Terrorism and Counterterrorism in Bangladesh (Routledge, 2023). Dr. Parvez received the Center for Genocide Studies and United Nations Development Programme (CGS-UNDP) Peace Fellowship 2018. Parvez’s research interests include the Religion and Society, South Asian migrants in Europe, and Bangladesh Politics.
