RASHED T. ISLAM, PE, PTOE, ENV SP
Senior Vice President/Regional Transportation Director
Rashed Islam is a Senior Vice President at HDR Engineering, Inc. and serves as the Regional Director for HDR’s Central Region Transportation Business Group Operations. HDR’s Central Region Transportation practice crosses into six market sectors (Aviation, Highways and Roads, Federal Transportation, Freight Rail, Ports and Maritime, and Transit), delivering full-service solutions to our clients and supports projects around the globe. The region stretches from Canada to Mexico and spans the U.S. from Indiana to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
Rashed provides strategic leadership to develop, implement and maintain an effective regional business group program and guide key initiatives in the region. His focus ranges from supporting business development strategies and expanding technical services to ensuring quality deliverables and promoting staff growth. Rashed has spent nearly all of his career with HDR — 28 of his 32 years in the industry. During this time, he has been instrumental in implementing innovative, congestion-relieving ideas in Central Texas, some of which are the first of their kind in the state, such as diverging diamond and continuous-flow interchanges. His trusted persistence is exemplified in the 712-acre Mueller Municipal Airport Redevelopment project that he helped create over the last 20 years. Rashed collaborated with diverse teams including the developer, planner and stakeholders, to develop a multimodal transportation network that provides equal opportunity for all modes of travel. Developing relationships across HDR and beyond, he successfully grew HDR’s program and helped build a diverse client base including DOTs, cities, counties, transit agencies and private clients. Rashed received his Master’s Degree in Transportation from the University of Texas at Austin and was inducted in the UT Austin’s Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Department’s Academy of Distinguished Alumni in 2017. Rashed is married to Mayukh Parvin and father of two children, Rusama Islam and Rahil Islam.
