Rashed Islam is a Senior Vice President at HDR Engineering, Inc. He manages the
transportation business group operations for the Central Region at HDR covering 16
states and six market sectors including Aviation, Freight Rail, Federal
Transportation, Highways and Roads, Ports and Maritime and Transit.
Rashed has worked in the transportation industry for over 30 years. His innovative thinking
and balanced approach to solving transportation planning and traffic congestion problems
have made him a trusted advisor for his clients, including State Department of
Transportations, Cities, Counties, Transit Agencies and Metropolitan Planning
Organizations.
Passionate about enhancing the transportation system, Rashed has been instrumental in
implementing innovative, congestion-relieving ideas in Texas, some of which are the first of
their kind in the state. Rashed’s unique leadership and public engagement capabilities have
helped to build community support for many controversial projects.
Rashed is actively involved in many community organizations, including chambers of
commerce, non-profit organizations, and sports organizations. He is well-known to local
elected officials for his professional and community engagements, including his leadership
role in the Asian-American community.
